who*what*when-sday #74

It’s been a stressful week. There have been a few wedding-related issues and it’s stressin’ me out! I just have to remind myself to take a deep breath and know that it will all work out. Thanks to my awesome friends for reminding me of this! I’m trying to look on the bright side:

We’ve found an officiant this fits us perfectly and we’re excited to start our pre-marital counseling!

We may be able to add a new city to our honeymoon trip!

I found an amazing new rug at Target the other day and it looks perfect in our foyer!

These are my happy things. These are the things I focus on when I’m getting bogged down by the bummers in my life. I think the practice of listing what you’re grateful for on a daily basis is so good for the soul! You guys should definitely try it!

New confession: I’m turning into a southern girl. I grew up in Raleigh, NC and have lived here for my whole life, except for a stint in Wilmington for college (Go Seahawks!). The reason why I’ve never really liked country music, hadn’t heard of collard greens until I was in my 20s, and didn’t embrace the convenience of the word “y’all” until quite recently is because my mom is from Massachusetts and my dad is from Scotland. These things weren’t a part of my life except when my dad would make fun of my stepmom for her southern accent and country cooking. So when I started dating Vaughan, I started listening to country music and fell in love with collard greens at a Thomas family dinner. Now I love so much about the south. I love four-wheeling and fried black eyed peas. And for the first time ever, I’m truly PROUD to be from North Carolina!

I hope you all have an amazing Wednesday and try to find some things to love about your life and the place you live!

i am glad you have awesome friends during those stressful wedding planning times, because the day of the wedding is all worth it to be celebrating your marriage with all your loved ones! You aren’t the only one, I grew up in Charlotte and barely experienced southern culture because both of my parents were also non-southerns. Thankfully I had an awesome roommate in college, who became my best friend….and I met Ben who fully engulfed me in all things southern! Yeah for southern boys and southern best friends!
