Elias’ Arrival | Baby and Co, Winston-Salem

Baby and Co Waterbirth

Jackee and Micheal met me at Starbucks to get to know each other a bit before their little one arrived. I remember thinking that they were going to ROCK this birth thing. They planned to welcome their babe at the beautiful Baby & Company birth center and were both practicing HypnoBabies. Yes, I said BOTH. Micheal was practicing right alongside Jackee and I think that made all the difference. He was prepared and wasn’t taking his part lightly. And as you’ll see in the images below, they were an amazing team!

Active Labor

I got the text that things may be starting on the evening of October 17th, 2017. The 18th was Jackee’s original due date before it was changed. We talked about how ironic it would be if baby came on that day! They stayed at home overnight but things picked up and they decided to head in to be checked at 8:30am. I soon got another text telling me she was 8cm and I should definitely head that way! I’m pretty sure my heart skipped a beat in that moment – I’m so glad I was only 10 minutes away!

When I arrived, Jackee was quietly laboring in the bathroom and Micheal was right beside her providing counter pressure and reassuring words. He read to her from their Hypnobabies script throughout her labor and was such an amazing support system! She soon got in the water for a bit of relief and before long, felt the urge to push!

Second Stage of Labor (Pushing)

I should mention that Jackee and Micheal didn’t know if they would be greeting a son or daughter which was just so exciting! Jackee started pushing as her midwife coached her through some intense pressure. She only pushed for a matter of minutes before their SON, Elias, was born in the water. It was amazing to see such a strong momma completely trust her body (and be allowed to do just that) to birth her baby.
