LJP is Hiring! | Associate Birth Photographer

I can’t actually believe I just typed those words: “LJP is hiring!” I have butterflies in my stomach as I draft this blog post, but they’re the good kind of butterflies. The kind that tell me that I’m doing something big and exciting, even if it is a bit scary. I’ve thought about this for a long time and it’s finally time to expand my team. Lauren Jolly Photography has been just me for over 6 years and while I’ve loved every minute of it, I’m looking to the future and I know that I cannot continue to grow on my own.

I’m looking for an ASSOCIATE BIRTH PHOTOGRAPHER to join my team and help me serve families in the Triad area. This past year, I reached my max amount of births that I can take on while my babies are young. I hated having to turn away so many families who wanted to have me document their births! That’s where you come in! If you’re interested in being a part of the LJP team and photographing the magic of birth, you’re in the right place and I’d love to hear from you!

APPLICATIONS ARE DUE NO LATER THAN SEPTEMBER 25, 2019.

A little bit about LJP:

I started my business as a wedding photographer in 2013. At the time, I thought that was the only way that a photographer could make money and even though I wasn’t passionate about it, I knew I loved photography. I continued down that path for a few years, but after photographing my first birth while pregnant with my first baby, I knew that birth photography was my passion!

From there, I decided to phase out of weddings and focus on birth and families. I have also continued to learn and grow in my knowledge of birth and feel that’s a very important part of my job. Focusing on birth photography has been the best decision I’ve ever made for this business. And now I’m excited to have someone join my team so I can continue to grow and serve more Triad families!

If you’re reading this with a big smile on your face or maybe with some butterflies in your stomach – I’d love to hear from you! If you feel called to birth in some way or already know that you love to photograph births and support families in that way, I want you to apply! I can’t wait to hear from you!

APPLY HERE!

What I’m looking for

  • Someone to photograph births around the Triad area (Winston-Salem, Greensboro, High Point, Statesville, and possibly Charlotte)
  • This person will communicate with their clients via email, phone, and in-person meetings
  • Someone who is comfortable with social media and willing to share on Instagram, Facebook, and possibly others
  • Someone who has a working knowledge of digital photography in manual mode
  • Someone who is hardworking, open to growth and constructive criticism, and desires to learn

Requirements

  • Motivated and self-disciplined (much of your work will be done on your own)
  • Local to the Triad area
  • A heart for serving others
  • The desire to learn about business, birth, and photography
  • Reliable transportation
  • Reliable means of communication (i.e. cell phone)
  • Ability to be on-call 24/7 for weeks at a time

Bonuses

  • Knowledge of film photography
  • Knowledge of Lightroom and/or Photoshop
  • Knowledge of birth
  • Doula certification or desire to become certified as a doula
  • Own your own full frame DSLR camera

More Info

  • This will be a position that is compatible with another part time or full time job, although any other position will need to be flexible with your on-call schedule when shooting births.
  • This position does not include in-office work, but it will require that you be available to be on-call for birth clients as well as available for team meetings periodically.
  • You do not need to own your own photography equipment, but if you already do, that is a huge bonus.
  • The interview process will not be quick, but it will be thorough!
  • I am not in a rush to hire, and I won’t if I don’t find the right fit for the LJP team.
  • There will be a training process once someone is hired. This will include mock shoots and lots of hands-on time, especially if the person who is hired has never photographed a birth. You will be compensated for your training time.
  • You will be photographing the *actual* births of babies. If you are squeamish or uncomfortable with the idea of birth (in all different settings from hospital to home), this may not be the right fit for you.
  • If you love taking photos and birth but hate the business side of photography, you could be the perfect fit!

APPLY HERE!

As soon as I publish this, I’ll be refreshing the application page over and over, nervously waiting to see who applies – I seriously can’t wait to hear from you!
