Caleb | NC Adoption Story

Adoption Photography

I don’t want to make a habit of starting blog posts with the word “y’all,” but…Y’ALL. I cannot even begin to tell you how excited I was to get Kim’s email asking me to document their new baby. She told me they’d be traveling down to North Carolina from Ohio to adopt their sweet baby and they wanted me to take some family photos.

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, I mentioned my “photography bucket list” (which you can see on my website) and how documenting an adoption story was on it – Kim loved the idea and we agreed that she’d let me know when they headed down this way and I’d try to meet them at the hospital. Everything was a bit “up in the air” as they didn’t know when baby would come or how things would look with an adoption. So we decided that if it worked for everyone’s schedules, I’d try to photograph the birth or soon after.

On Easter weekend, I got the text that their sweet BOY was here and they wanted to schedule their session. I was already planning to head to Raleigh for the holiday so I stopped by the hospital on Easter Sunday. Sweet Caleb was only hours old and I still can’t handle how tiny and cute he is!!

All that to say this: I adore this session, I got to check something new off my “photography bucket list,” and I’m so happy to now call the Barnes family friends!
