Jensen’s home birth story was so special to me in so many ways! This family was my first repeat birth client and it was such an honor to photograph another one of their sweet babies’ births! Little Jaleesa (the first home birth that I photographed) has gotten so big! I just love this amazing family!
All that said, when Rachel reached out to see if I could photograph her fifth baby’s birth, I was so so excited! Rachel and Josh are so sweet and inviting and it’s such a joy to photograph their baby’s births!
I got a call in the middle of the night that things were picking up! I excitedly got in the car hoping that things wouldn’t move along much more quickly than last time! When I arrived, her midwife, midwife’s assistant, and doula were already there, setting up the tub and helping Rachel through her contractions.
She soon decided that she’d like to get up and moving and into the tub as soon as possible. Once the tub was full of warm water, she sunk into it and remembered the amazing comfort effects the water has during labor! Her doula, Kristian, poured warm water on her back to relieve some pressure and Rachel, being the rockstar that she is, quietly breathed through each wave.
Soon it was time to wake the older kids who wanted to be there for their baby brother’s birth! Joella, Jaren, and Judah sleepily wandered into the room as their grandma helped them find their way. The boys wanted to get in the tub since Joella was in the tub for their sister, Jaleesa’s birth. It was just the sweetest thing to see how excited they were! I love when older siblings are involved in welcoming their new babies!
As labor intensified, Rachel decided to get out of the water for a bit, work through some contractions on the toilet (a great place to help your body release tension), and get a little rest in her bed. Grandma read a book to the kids and we all let her have some space.
She soon got back into the water and we all knew it wouldn’t be long! Below you can see little Jaleesa joined everyone to welcome her baby brother! Having this many people excitedly awaiting a baby is so special!
Rachel began to push and after just a few minutes of pushing she pulled her precious baby out of the water – Jensen was finally here!
Jensen Bradley Trammel | 8 lbs. 5 oz. | 22 inches long
Congratulations, Trammel family! Sweet Jensen is so perfect and I’m so happy your beautiful baby is here! It was an honor to document his birth!
And just because I’m OBSESSED with this comparison, below is an image from Jaleesa’s birth in 2017 to compare with the above image from Jensen’s birth this year. Guys, THIS right here is why I do what I do. These two photos side by side fill my heart to the BRIM!!
